HITTING THE NAIL ON THE HEAD

This link will take you to an article that really explains very well my situation. I was sent this by a well wisher and I am very grateful to them. This is the best description I have read and saves me trying to explain. This woman already has done it for me.

BUT YOU DON'T LOOK SICK

Colin, thank you so much for posting this link. The article brought tears to my eyes. I have fibromyalgia, and deal with so many of the same things the author (and you) do on a daily basis. Not only did this article hit the nail on the head, it drove that sucker straight through the board!

Thank you for that link - it's a brilliant way of explaining illness that I can see myself using.

Thank you. This link is going out to some friends promptly. The only thing not touched on is the decisions we have to make like: If I use one spoon for swimming (exercise, doctor visit, grocery shopping for healthy food, etc.), will it reward me with more spoons or exhaust me and take away even more spoons?

Thank you, Colin, for using one of your spoons to share your life with us. I copied the story and sent it to my mother. She wrote back with thanks, as she will be using that story to try and explain her problems to the rest of the family. I hope it helps them understand, as it did for me.

Colin, thank you so VERY much for posting this link! Like knitwych, I too have fibro as well as bipolar mental illness, degenerative disc disease and thyroid disease, and deal with the "spoon theory" daily. Never thought of that particular analogy, but it works perfectly, especially to people who have NO idea how many spoons we start each day with. I admire and appreciate your choice to "spoon with us", LOL!!

Hey Colin:

I found The Spoon Theory several years ago and LOVED it. I even have a tiny lapel-pin spoon to remind me of it, ordered from her Web site.

I have Sjogren's Syndrome. You got it in one. I look the picture of health. But the struggle with the disease is only half the battle. The other half is people's skepticism. Thank you, Colin. The spoon theory is awesome.

Thank you for posting the link. I'm tired of refering to myself as a mobil phone with a bad battery. Next time I will try the spoon insted :-)
