Aran Front

I am knitting this using Jaeger Shetland Aran. 80% New wool and 20% Alpaca. The needles used are KnitPicks Options 4.5mm. In the picture you can see the cable needle(4" Hiya Hiya 3mm DPN) I was using but I did most of this without bothering to use it! It is my own design. It has set in sleeves.
Edit

as graciously pointed by Lynne and not so by Terry Danner, there are two errors in this! Cables turned the wrong way......damn! One can be easily fixed, without ripping back. I'll have to think about the other one.

Your aran is beautiful Colin, How thoughtless of Lynn. Clearly, you would have seen them yourself! Glad you are feeling at least a bit better!

Hi Colin - lovely design and the color looks great too on my monitor -- about the cable turnings - are you familiar with the fix explained by the Yarn Harlot for a bad cable turn? You can find it on her blog, but basically you smoosh the wrong turn as flat as you can with a few stitches, then duplicate stitch on top with the turn going the right way. With a darning needle and yarn of course. I don't remember if she unvented this or not but her explanation and photos are very clear. Good luck! PS - I'm on KBTH list

Hi colin, I saw the two 'snakey looking cables' and wondered if they were intended, so looked over the other side of the front and saw there were no such features, for the one not so easy to fix one, I think I know a place where it taught to 'snip the yarn'and redo it. I will look it up and let you know,

oh i love every bit of it. the color is so special. i do see the so called errors now that you pointed them out but i dont think i would fix it!! way back hand crafters always put an error in their work on purpose. it is so the knit 'imps' would be satisfied. I think i would leave them in and love them even more for being there. Hope that sweater brings you much good health and luck!!

yes, there are a few errors but that is the beauty of a hand knit - it was made by someone and we are , none of us, perfect. i love it

Claudia made an easy mistake. Lynne's comment was fine -t was polite and I am glad she pointed it out. It was the other person's that was a stinger!

It is a lovely design and great color. I really like the Jaeger Shetland Aran.

About the cable thing. What a PITA to have happen. I would try to fix it before I frogged and did a re knit.I think you can fix this one. Actually, I didn't see it until I read the blog and looked for it.

am glad you found the 'I need orange' fix for boo-boo cables.

Your cover of the couch looks really vibrant even on my old dull screen :-)

Oh Colin, it's so painful when we find something so far back in our work. I personally might be inclined to just fudge what I could and leave the rest. I have to admit that it would bother me some, but goodness that's a lot of knitting to 'undo'. If I know you it will bother you no end, too. Do what will make you happy with it. All that said, it is just gorgeous and anyone should be very happy to wear and enjoy it.

I love your sweater, Colin. If you want to fix the cables where you can, then do so, but I like the uniqueness of the opposite swirls. It's a beautiful sweater: lovely color, impressive design.
