This is my first ever hand knitted sweater, circa 2004. Up till then, I had only hand knit scarves and swatches and half sweaters. This was made up as I went along. It has set in sleeves. It was knitted using 5mm needles and Rowan Summer Tweed. I hated it for fit but now I have lost weight I love it. Glad I didn't dump it.
I just finished this. It is 100% Cashmere, set in sleeves, knitted on my fine gauge machine, a Silver Reed 830. 37sts and 61 rows to 10cms(4") after washing and tumble drying.
I hand knit this on 4.5mm needles, using drops Alpaca, double stranded. Disappointed that it sheds but otherwise pleased with it.
This is my second hand knit. Using Rowan Polar, I think. It was knitted on 8mm needles. Feels lovely.
Another long stretch, but hoping to be more regular

You have a lot of patience dont you? I only knit on the machine now, cos I'm lazy and want things done yesterday! Beautiful sweaters but then I wouldn't expect anything less from a fiber artiste such as yourself..
Thnx for showing them to us.

Beautiful work Knitman. I really like the cabled one - but I am a cable fanatic. And you did a much better job sizing your first ever hand knit sweater than I did. I was so afraid that I would make the sweater to small for my very tall husband that I ended up with one that was too big. He can gain 150 pounds and still wear it.
very nice work! Thank you for sharing!
Great looking first sweater!. It sure looks a lot better than my first one. You make a great model. A bevy of good looking sweaters BTW. Thanks for sharing them.
You dapper rogue, you! I wish to inform you that the cane adds to your looks.
Your first sweater is amazing! Everyone else in the world starts with a plain little stockinette number. What does Colin do? He knits an intarsia wonder. -laughing-
Colin, you look wonderful, in all of your photos!
Wow oh wow! you have lost a lot of weight and are looking fantastic. I have been off reading blogs for a while and thought I should check in on one of my favorite knitters and bloggers. What A difference in you! I sure hope the weight loss has made you not only look better, but feel better too!
I absolutely love that first one.....and what a lovely smile you have :)
Blah!! I knit my first handknit jumper in 1962, and have been doing so on and off ever since, and your first one looks better than many of mine do now!! You also look much better with the weight off, and no doubt, some good swimming muscles underneath!
Cheers,
