RUTHLESS INTERVENTION

I desperately need the support of my dear friends. I don't even know if I can bring myself to tell you about this, about what I have done. I've been thinking about it for quite some time now but each time I have gone to the brink and pulled back. I have had nightmares about this. I couldn't believe I was even thinking of doing such a thing. Well, today I did it. I gritted my teeth, and with no holding back, I went over the brink. I don't need you to judge me, or to tell me I was wrong, I just need you to tell me it will be okay.

I dumped at least 30 pairs of shoes. Yes, you read it write. See, I told you it was bad. Now you know why I had such a hard time telling you. I know it will get better, but when?

There is a positive side to this. I have only got 27 pairs of Doc Martens and three of them are sober. Nowhere near the amount I thought I had. Room for improvement there I think. ( I have 11 pairs of Kickers too, with two on the way.)

Oh dear, odd numbers. 27 Docs, 13 Kickers. That must be made up to an even number, I am sure you understand.

(EDIT: all the shoes were brown and variations there of except for an off red pair, one lilac suede (bad idea), teal suede (equally bad), and a light blue suede pair. What was I thinking?)

I do hope you sent the "dumped" shoes to the thrift shop! :) It can be very cleansing to do these things and I'm sure you will feel a weight lifted from your shoulders.

BTW, 27 docs plus 13 kickers does equal 40 (an even number as you know) pairs of footwear. ;)

It *will* be OK, Colin! You jettisoned things you didn't love to make room for those you will love.

All the organization/clutter-buster experts say that if you love it, it's justified. :-)

Oh my! How many pairs do you have altogether? Down with brown shoes!!! Drab, drab, drab brown. Who needs 'em.

It will be OK, Colin. It makes room for more beautiful shoes!

I can't stop giggling.

I can just second on the ones who posted before.First I thought you dumped the doc Martens ones and wanted to ask why ... It pays to read to the end before jumping to comment :-)

The brown ones just aren't you any more, I just really hope they can find new owners, if they did not have worn soles.

Colin, if those shoes didn't make you smile when you looked at them, it was time for them to go. Your outlook on life has changed. The you that bought drab brown shoes is no more. Time to move on and you did. Good for you! Sensible decision.

Just think of all the room you've made for the next fabulous, but as of yet not found, pair of shoes (or 2 or 3)
It's totally going to get better.
Hugs to you

Colin,

I must agree with the other writers.
You have thrown out your drab past and you have made room for a brighter more colorful future.

Bring on the 'Doc's' of many colors.

The way it see it, it makes room for more new ones, so it will be ok.

27 + 13 = 40. An even number. I am proud of you, and it will be OK.

Congratulations! Getting rid of hard-to-get-rid-of things always gives me a boost - a little gust of a feeling of freedom.

I'm going to have to show this to my husband. He thinks I have too many shoes! (He's a typical man: one pair of sneakers, one pair of brown, one pair of black.)
