Soenke Socks

Knitted using a yarn generic to Globus, a German supermarket. It is 75% superwash wool 25% nylon. I used 2mm KnitPicks 60cm circular, knitting both simultaneously. The design is my own. The name is German and is pronounced Zern-ka.
The heel is the Andersson Heel Mach 2.
They were knitted toe up.
The back of the leg.
The side of the foot showing sole and top and gusset.

Those socks are quite lovely! I especially like the cable. I bet that cable is reversible. Am I right???

And what IS an Andersson heel???

Very very pretty sock! Not overly ornate but fancy enough to be elegant. Love it!

Love the colour, Colin...!! I got some in exactly that colour in a
supermarket in the Faeroes - right in the middle of nowhere. It had
lots of wool, including Baby Ull....

Love the socks - very nice color. That particular shade of green is my all time favorite.

I wish I knew how to do that heel. Send that pattern in to Knitty. Looks like a winner to me.

Nice! I especially like the twisted cable (terminology?) running up the back of the sock. Well, that and the neat work on the heel.

I haven't done any sock knitting (yet). Do you do anything special to cast on? (I noted that you started at the toes.)

Very handsome, Colin! I like the idea of knitting toe-up, but I'm always afraid that I'll get the foot length wrong by starting the heel too soon or too late. Doing it top down, I can try on as I go and be sure I've got the length right. Is there a proportion, or a formula, or do you just go trial-and-error until you get it right and then make notes so you can repeat it?

Your socks are lovely, Colin. I am knitting a pair of red, white, and blue American flag socks to remember 911. Hugs, Judy.

Very nice pair of socks! It is fun to design socks, isn't it! And can be just as addictive as knitting them in the first place LOL.

Colin, your socks are beautiful. I especially appreciate the way they fit your foot. May I ask a question? When you knit your swatch, do you calculate your socks on the swatch or do you subtract a certain percentage?
My reason for asking, is because my socks fit a bit looser than I'd like.

Colin, this pattern is brilliant! I love the mix of "complex cable" and alternate ribbing. You have a new career as a sock designer.

Wow, I ADORE that cable! I've never seen one like it. I agree with the others, if you ever posted or sold the pattern I'd definitely be one of the first to try it! Your heels are impeccable. Beautiful, beautiful socks!!!
