This is Alice resting with her first litter, born this afternoon. Three boys and 1 girl. All shaded red.
Dachshund pups are very ugly when born and remain that way for several weeks but turn into beauties.

Oh, I was going to say that all puppies are adorable, but I heard tell once of a bichon who managed to snag a boxer bitch (the day AFTER his neuter - still had enough swimmers in the plumbing) and produce a litter of 12 or 13 of the ugliest puppies ever seen.
Adult dogs are a different story. I once saw a cocker/sharpei mix - it was a very unfortunate looking dog.
Hi Colin: Must disagree. Dachsy puppies not ugly at all, but very lovely.
