You would enjoy, I think, the television series "Through the Wormhole" with Morgan Freeman and, also, "SciFi Science" with Michio Kaku. As for Obama, people here in the States blame Obama for everything from the total fall of the economy to the spontaneous abortion (miscarriage to my fundy friends who think I'm talking about induced abortion) of someone's uncle's neighbor's daughter. As for me, I'm amazed at the lack of power the U.S. President actually does have. He can wage war, but he can't protect his own people from idiological morons who think their party line is more important than the good of the people. Rant over.
