Unfortunately the duvet hasn't continued to help. The pain is back and not just when I am asleep now.
Just got back from the Dr who thinks I should now have steroid injected into my hips. I said I would think about it. He said it wouldn't hurt. Umm, right, I believe that. (My Dr is a her but she wasn't available so I saw John's Dr who is a he.)
I have a dog show tomorrow and if I have this jab in my hips, I'll have it Friday, not today just before a show in case it causes something worse...
He says it won't make me fat and hungry only oral steroids do that....
I'm not willing to let this go...

Maybe you could try the injection after the show. My husband finally tried it for his elbow and found it to be a great relief. He said it didn't hurt at all as the doctor numbed the area before doing the injection. Whatever you do I hope you find relief soon.
Colin, the shots should help. I've had them and the pills several years ago, and I prefer the shots. I guess because the effect is quicker, and we all like that don't we. I am so sorry about the pain. It is amazing that you keep moving in spite of it.

Sorry to hear about your pain/suffering. I really do think the shot will help you. My MIL had horrible arthritis in her back. She got those shots several times and they really helped. She was well into her later 80s when she was getting the shots.

I haven't had a cortisone injection in the hip, but I have had a couple in my time. I told the dr flat out to do whatever he could to make it not hurt. I'll be darned if he didn't do just that. Sprayed it, injected the joint with a small syringe first, then off to a bigger srynge. Tell your doc the same thing, or, go to a specialist who know JUST where to inject.
I can't help with your decision but I do hope you get some relief soon and your show goes/went well.
Colin, over the years I have had a number of steroid injections, mainly in the cervical spine, and some lumbar... my doctor is a pain management specialist who gives me Versed for "conscious sedation", which actually knocks me out. He then places the needle with the aid of a fluoroscope. It's about a ten minute procedure, but with prep and recovery, the whole thing takes a little over an hour. I've found it to be very effective. I also take a 24 hr. time-release morphine that lets me sleep and work pain-free. If your pain is not being adequately controlled, you should investigate pain management resources that are better informed and less reluctant to use more powerful medications for pain relief.

I also know that my Granddad had Cortisone injections into his Knees and Elbows in his 70's, and they helped his pain immeasurably.
They also didn't make him Fat at all. That was the Zolodex for his Prostate Cancer... Which also made me Fat when I was given it for Endometriosis.
