Sock 62

These are knitted using Regia's Kaffe Fassett Design Line. I used 2mm needles. I used my Andersson Construction Method and Andersson Heel Mach II. As you can see, these socks are shorter than my usual socks. The yarn is the same weight and length but the row gauge is quite different. As I have known for years, and others doubt(!), colour alters gauge.

I knitted these on 2.25 at first because I  was trying to get them to pattern like the picture-Galaxy. I couldn't. Then I went to my preferred size, 2mm and thought I'd just stick with that. Silly me wasn't knitting with the Galaxy yarn as I had first thought which is why the pattern didn't appear!

These are knitted on KnitPicks 2.25mm circular needles, simultaneously, one on each needle. The yarn is the third ball I had of Regia's Design Line by Kaffe Fasset. The colour number is 04551. As this is the third from this line, it is safe to say I like it. As you can see, not twins but obviously the same family....
I used my own Andersson Method of toe up construction and the Andersson Heel Mach II.

Still Cold

The pool was 1.5c warmer today and I managed 40 laps before I seized up. I am still cold and am soon going back to bed. I found yesterday after sleeping I warmed up.

I am on the home stretch of both Regia Kaffe socks so may well blog them later today. I think my next pair will be plain coloured and textured. Pink colour I think.

I may go to my Spiritualist meeting tonight. The demonstrator is a woman named Angie Morris and she is good. No bullshit from her.(edit: it will be me tonight. I will do the talk and a young woman I had do the dem last month will do so again tonight. Joanna is excellent.)

Strange how we tend to think of Fundamentalists as just being Muslim when Israel is based upon fundamentalist Biblical belief and is the reason for the killing. We have fundamentalist Xtians, one of whom has been in power in the USA for the last 8 years and who believes in helping Armageddon along and doing nothing to protect our planet. We have fundamentalist Hindus. Even fundamentalist Buddhists! Why are we so selective in our recognizing of evil?

Tomorrow is Fred's funeral. Both John and I are to attend. Trish came around yesterday with her sister Janet to see the puppies. Trish gave me a red tie with hats all over it which was Fred's and also another of his for John. I was really touched by this and I shall wear mine tomorrow. I told Trish that maybe the other tie would be too loud for John.

Alive and Well

I had an email and telephone call to see if I was alright because I have not blogged since last Wednesday. I hadn't realised it was so long.

On Saturday I went the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham(95 miles away) to volunteer on the UK Handknitters Association stand.

Fred, who asked me, was very helpful to me in that he helped me to and from my car. Had I jot gone in my wheelchair, I'd have been in trouble. It was very crowded and in minutes I'd have fallen over if I had just used my sticks.

During the day, especially at lunchtime, Amanda guided me around. She walked behind my chair, not pushing me, and went 'beep beep' in a loud voice whenever we got stuck.

I really had a very good day. I taught three people to knit and one to crochet. One of the people was a big burly man who I at first thought was going to be trouble when I saw him approach. I was wrong. he wanted to learn to knit. He has huge hands! He wanted to have something to help him relax. So I taught him.

I was very surprised to learn that I was a patient teacher. No trying to be either. I just was. I didn't get riled at all and didn't think 'idiot' once! I really am surprised I could do it without feeling frustrated.

I did, of course, buy some sock yarn but only 6 balls. All were of the new Regia Kaffe Fasset range. I also bought some darning needles which had bent ends. They are excellent for sewing.

I came very close to sticking my foot in it. One of the women I helped mentioned that she home schooled. I was surprised and said I know it is very popular in the USA but not so here. I almost said it was popular with religious nutters. I didn't. Guess what? She was a religious nutter! And I said not a word about it. I did not have a go at her and tell her she was abusing her children. I just let it go. Maybe I am coming down with something?

Kaffeteire

These were knitted using one of the Landscape colourways (4257) from Regia, designed by Kaffe Fassett. I used one Hiya Hiya 2mm circular needle. I think this is my best sock yet. I really like the 2mm knitting gauge and the fit is excellent. I just knew when I saw this yarn that it would need a 2mm needle. I knit it toe up, increasing from 52 sts to 80 sts. It is 216 rows from cast on to EZ cast off. A simple 4x4 rib and Andersson Heel.
