Major Tom

This yarn is Galaxy number 1555 by Regia. I bought this yarn whilst visiting with Lia in Sandhausen, Germany. I knit them using 2mm for the ribbing and 2.25mm for the rest. 38sts and 48 rws per 10cm (9.5 and 12 PI). I really like this colourway and design.
I named them Major Tom. You may be old enough to figure out why!

I did a Sherman heel. I increased from 36 sts to 46 sts on the sole before I did the heel and then decreased again afterwards back to 36. It fits well.

How long does it take you to knit a pair of socks? This is a very pretty colorway, isn't it?

Very nice, Colin! I like the idea of increasing toward the heel and then decreasing again into the leg.

Now I'll have that song on my head for the rest of the day!!

A very handsome sock, Colin and I am old enough to remember Major Tom.
I'm not an experience sock knitter but would that heel work well for
someone with a high instep?

The view from my tin can is very good. I got a different colorway of this yarn and am really looking forward to knitting with it. The swirls are so fun! I had to order it from Europe--haven't seen it in the US yet.

Mmmm Mmmm Almost as pretty as Mr B with that amazing red hair at the time. Geeze I always wanted to be as pretty as him. You are such an evil man - that's why we adore you so much.

Your work, as always is beautiful. I love coming to see what gorgeous new thing you've made.

I am so envious. No matter how hard I try, my Sherman Heels don't look tight enough. Lovely sock.

Lovely work, Tom! Thanks for sharing. I remember seeing DB on the Serious Moonlight Tour in Edinburgh in 1983. It rained the whole time, and it was cold. These "old blokes" behind me only knew this vintage of music, and they were trying to "chat up" these teenage "birds" next to me, but the girls were only interested in the new tunes. Surreal experience--Thompson Twins opened for them. Thanks for inspiring me to take a walk down memory lane.

I love looking at your socks and your sweaters.
You must have a cabinet full of gorgeous socks by now - I know that I
am working on filling my 2nd drawer.
I visit your blog several times a week, too.

ahhh, as a german one Peter Schilling's Major Tom started playing in my mind.

'Dann hebt er ab und voellig losgeloest von der Erde, schwebt das Raumschif, voellig schwerelos'

I guess it will stay a while as it always does when it started playing in my head.
It reminds me of the two week school trip where we played it at the youth hostel whe had our disco party at.

Thanks for the beautiful sock and the memories popping up with the name

OOOooohhh, Colin! They are absolutely perfect!
I wish I could do heels as smoothly as you do! And I have been dying to
see that yarn in action! Now I have to go out and get myself some of that
yummy yarn!
