MAX (socks)

MAX-my latest pair of socks. I always have a pair on the needles as they are so easily portable. They are far easier to take than an aran sweater for example. The yarn is an impulse buy I could not resist. A sock yarn by Wendy. It split rather easily but I still like the colourway and the handle.

I utilized my own Andersson Toe Up Method and the Andersson Heal Mach II.

I used 2.25mm circular needles, one for each sock, knitted simultaneously. The brand was Karbonz by Knit Pro. I find them a good needle though my favourite sock sized needles are still Chiao Goo.

REVOLUTION SOCKS

This is Revolution knitted up. I started with 100gm hank of 80% Merino, 20% Bamboo, undyed. I dyed this myself in the microwave. I have knitted them on 2mm Knit Pro needles, using my Andersson Construction Method and Andersson heel Mach II. I am especially pleased with this yarn colouring and the yarn itself. My favourite mix I think.

SUMMER FRUIT

These are knitted using a 75/25 wool/nylon (Trekking undyed) which I dyed myself using Food Colouring. The design is my own, a 14 st repeating lace pattern where I filled in the holes my making one in the bar between and not using yo's. They are for my friend Gail. For my self, I 'd need a 16 st repeat and possibly up a size to 2.25mm needles instead of the 2mm I used. I used Knit Pro 2mm circulars for these.

JUDY'S SOCK

These are the lace socks I knitted for my friend Judy, who is 65 0n Wednesday. I have known Judy the longest I have known anyone, since 1979.
The socks are made from a Regia yarn. I used 2mm Knit Pro needles(knit Picks), circular, each on their own needle, knitted simultaneously. I used the EZ sewn cast off as usual. They are knitted toe up using my own Andersson method and MACH II heel.
The lace pattern I initially got from the net, somewhere, but by the time I had faffed and fiddled and fitted it to my stitch count morphed into my own. These are by far the most difficult item I have knitted, ever. I frogged many times. I kept making errors. I kept ending up with less stitches or more stitches, usually less, because I forgot the yo's. I am pleased with them now though.

I am now fairly confident that a shawl is out of the question. I also think that pain/drugs is why I just couldn't get this to flow. Maybe it's just that I am 50! Though that last one seems unlikely. I know my memory is crap. Yet I can still knit to aran patterns and sock patterns other than lace, just from my head. I can pick up knitting I left weeks ago and still know where I am and how to proceed. Yet this pigging lace almost defeated me.

I am glad lace shocks don't suit me or John!

(Oh and I took one of the photgraphs with the scanner because although I used my foot for the model, the socks are too small for me.)

Cooper

The yarn is called Poison Apple and is a hand dye from Gothic Yarns on Ebay. (UK based)
I used my own Andersson Method as usual.
One sock is tighter and shorter than the other - the one on the left. This is because one of Knit Picks / Knit Pro 2mm needles is smaller than 2mm!

Thomas

The yarn is Sweet Feet, an 80% Merino 20% Bamboo which I bought from ARTISTS PALETTE YARNS. This yarn is beautiful to knit with and to wear. I very much like the way the yarn has distributed the colours during knititng.

I used the Andersson Method for construction with the Mach II heel, and I knitted them using Knit Pro (Knit Picks) 2mm circular needles. Knit simultaneously, each on their own needle.
